The Story

It's all because of Miss Roxanne's purple candy bin.  Honest!

I was in the waiting area of Calendar Club Corporate offices awaiting a second interview for the Store Operations Department.  Chris was in the mailbox area going through Miss Roxanne's candy bin.  I sneezed.  He said "God Bless You."  According to him, he knew right then and there.  I think I figured it out later…but not a long time later.

We had the Annual Operator's Conference that year at the Airport Hilton.  He's outgoing and talks to people easily.  I am as well.  We ended up tag teaming many new Operators.  He had a lot of information, what I didn't know I made up for with exuberance.  This photo of us was taken at the Casino Night during Conference, thank you Tom Miserendino.  It stands as the best photo of the two of us to date.
So we started dating.  He officially asked me to be his girlfriend, which was a first for me may I mention, the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend two years ago.  We moved into a duplex in South Austin the following February, thank you Carrie.  We combined stuff and animals and went from there.

Last Labor Day weekend we went to have dinner for our "Anniversary" at Romeo's.  After dinner we walked to the car to go home and after he opened the door for me to get in he knelt on one knee and asked me to marry him.  He had a pretty ring box and inside it he had drawn a ring because he didn't want to pick a ring without me having some input.
I wore one of his grandmother's rings until we found just the perfect one, that came to us with the matching wedding band from our friend Shannon.  I love it.  It's exceptionally me, in that the diamonds are not huge and are in an amazing setting.
The thing that got me the most about when he asked me to marry him is that he called my parents first as well as my brother Troy.  It was right after Hurricane Katrina destroyed so much of New Orleans, where I consider home, and my brother said it gave him something happy to think about as he was dealing with the loss of not only his stuff and our parents stuff but also the loss of his city.

I think what I learned the most from all of this is that
